Import your Excel or CSV into HubSpot Contacts
HubSpot rejects a contact import when the column headers don't match its properties, when emails or phone numbers are malformed, or when the file has duplicate rows. Importly renames your columns to HubSpot's exact property names (First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone Number…), reformats every value and removes duplicates — so the import goes through the first time.
Column headers Importly recognises for HubSpot Contacts
Whatever your source file calls them, Importly matches your columns to the fields HubSpot Contacts expects:
| Field in HubSpot Contacts | Recognised from headers like |
|---|---|
| First Name | first name, firstname, first_name, prenom, prénom, given name… |
| Last Name | last name, lastname, last_name, nom, surname, family name… |
| email, e-mail, mail, courriel, adresse email, adresse e-mail… | |
| Phone Number | phone, telephone, téléphone, tel, tél, mobile… |
| Company name | company, company name, societe, société, entreprise, raison sociale… |
| Job title | job title, title, poste, fonction, titre… |
| City | city, ville, town, commune, localite, localité… |
| State/Region | state, province, region, région, departement, département… |
| Postal code | postal code, zip, zipcode, zip code, code postal, code_postal… |
| Country/Region | country, pays, nation… |

Frequently asked questions
Which columns do I need to import contacts into HubSpot?
At minimum a name and an email — email is the property HubSpot uses to deduplicate contacts. Importly also maps Company name, Job title, Phone Number and the address fields when your file contains them.
Why does my HubSpot contact import keep failing?
The usual causes are headers that don't match HubSpot properties, invalid emails, phone numbers in an unexpected format, or duplicate emails. Importly fixes all four before you upload.
Do I need to reformat phone numbers for HubSpot?
Importly normalises phone numbers to a consistent format and strips stray characters, so HubSpot stores them cleanly instead of flagging or splitting them.
Stop reformatting exports by hand.
